2. What Information We Collect

Anonymous users:

• IP address (anonymized—the last octet of the IPv4 address replaced with a zero)
• Shortened URL and creation time
• Number of clicks on the link

Registered users:

• Name and email address
• Registration Date and Records of Agreement to the Terms and Conditions
• Shortened URLs and their statistics (country, city, device type, OS, browser, source — without storing IP addresses)

Report Abuse:

• The IP address of the form submitter (to prevent spam)
• Email address (if you provided it voluntarily)

3. GeoIP Processing

To determine visitors’ locations (country, city), we use the local MaxMind GeoLite2 database stored directly on our server. The IP address never leaves our server; the lookup is performed offline, and the IP address is immediately discarded afterward. Geographical data (country, city) is stored without being associated with the IP address.

4. Google Safe Browsing

Each shortened URL is verified via the Google Safe Browsing API before being saved. The URL being verified is sent to Google. The result is cached for 5 minutes. Additional information: Google Privacy Policy.

5. Signing In with Google (OAuth)

If you sign in using a Google account, we receive and store the following information from Google: your name, email address, internal Google ID, and profile photo URL. We use this data solely to identify your account. The legal basis is the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR). Your password is not stored when you sign in with Google. 6. Web Analytics (Matomo)

To measure website traffic, we use Matomo Analytics, which is hosted on our own server. Matomo is configured with cookies disabled—we do not store any analytical tracking cookies. We collect anonymized data about the pages visited and the source of the visit. IP addresses are anonymized before processing and are not stored. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

7. Marketing Communications

If you consented to receiving newsletters during registration, we may send you emails about news and services from odkaz.sk. The legal basis for this processing is your voluntary consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time by submitting a written request via contact form. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.

8. Cookies

We use only the essential session cookies required for the login process to function. The Matomo analytics tool is configured to operate without cookies. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.

9. Data Retention

• Anonymous threads: are automatically deleted 7 days after creation
• Saved links: retained until manually deleted by the user
• Free Plan Analytics: Records older than 48 hours are deleted on a regular basis
• PRO Plan Analytics: Stored indefinitely
• Session cookie: expires when the browser is closed or after 2 hours

10. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and transfer your data. You can submit a request via contact form.

11. Safety

Communication takes place exclusively over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using the bcrypt algorithm. IP addresses are never stored in plain text.
